How To Find Your Perfect Niche Market?
Posted July 20th, 2009
The internet marketer needs to find small focused areas where he can establish a business and make money from. At the same time many online entrepreneurs find it quite difficult to decide on their niches. If you don’t find a niche market for the product or service you offer, you will most probably fail.
There are several steps to take when looking for your niche or niches. The first one might be to start looking at your own interests and see whether any of these could be used for a niche in your internet marketing business.
Find a niche product or service you are passionate about – this will greatly improve your chances of being successful. Why? Because it’s the only way you’re going to
be able to devote the kind of time and effort to create a meaningful web site, build up the right traffic, generate worthwhile income, and enjoy what you’re doing.
What hobbies and interests do you have? Do you enjoy watching sport, do you love handcrafts or wood working, are you an avid reader of novels or do you enjoy working in the garden? Make a list as long as you can itemising all the interests you have and where you already have some knowledge and expertise.
This can extend into your work environment as well. There is no need for you to restrict yourself at all. Any topic that springs to mind should make it onto that first list that you compile. You don’t need to use them all at the beginning. Some can be developed later.
Finding a niche in an area where you already have some knowledge and passion will make your initial launch into an online venture a lot more pleasurable than getting stuck into a topic of which you have no knowledge at all and don’t even know whether you will like or not.
It will also make it easier for you to be authentic and establish yourself as an expert. Remember that it will involve you having to create material for a blog, articles, e-mail blasts and advertising. It will make it so much easier if you are enthusiastic.
If you have no previous knowledge it doesn’t matter, as long as you find something that could be of interest to you. You might never have done any rock climbing, but the topic has always fascinated you and you have often checked stories on daring climbing adventures.
A topic such as this could be just as good as a hobby that you have had for many years. Add these interests to your list of possible niches. Nothing that could interest you should be left off. The only criteria is that you will enjoy exploring and writing about the topic.
If you are still stuck you might do some research on what products and services are being sold successfully on such online sellers as amazon, ebay or etsy. What trends can you find, what are hot sellers now and what could be the next big item.
There are trends sites such as trendwatching.com. Or there’s Yahoo buzz and Google Trends to see what the latest topics and products are and what people are searching for right now.
You might also want to use Google’s search-based keyword tool. Use the tool to search for keywords and phrases that you might find suitable for a niche.
Don’t forget to check out the offline world. See what magazines are being published and what their big topics are. Are there products in supermarkets that are taking huge shelf space. For instance diet products might be something you see is very popular.
Niche marketing is the key to developing a profitable business that will make you stand out from the crowd. By doing the necessary research and building an informative web site, you will become an expert in your niche marketing field.
Deciding on your niche markets should be a fun and exciting thing to do. This industry allows you to be as creative and adventurous as you want to be. There are no limits. So have fun while you work on the start of your internet marketing journey.

This is spot on. You increase the likelihood for your success if you narrow down your niche.
