How your online business develops it will seldom be an overnight success. You will not have bought your private island within a few days of starting. And the beautiful girls are not bringing you your next piña colada, regardless what somebody promised you online.

There are other false promises you will be inundated with. In fact it will be incredibly difficult to determine what offering is useful to you and what to ignore. Each one of these success stories and enticements to follow them will have sufficient truth to them to make you think it could be real.

Yet what is seldom explained is that successful online marketing depends on following many steps and that the expertise required for this is generally not obtainable in a few pages of a skimpy eBook. Learning the skills required is not easy mainly because there is so much misleading information being offered to you all for free. Free until you spot the sign up form and you need to insert your credit card details!

Be aware that high levels of competition is vying for the dollars being spent online. Make sure you don’t get trampled in the rush and left for dead. Being prepared to work hard and learn all the time will be the best attitude to have.

Bring a healthy dose of skepticism with you and don’t believe anything until you have tested it for yourself. In fact the concept of testing is one that needs to be top of mind all the time. This applies whether you are testing your own marketing ideas and systems or if you are trying somebody else’s fool proof system.
