Stick to the basics when compiling the content for your blog or site. And present those basics well. Above all else avoid language and concepts that are for show and have very little substance.

What does that mean in reality? It means that if you are an expert on changing tyres, you don’t forget to write about taking the hub caps off, or taking the spare out of the boot. Want to be an expert on scrap booking then don’t forget something as basic as photographs.

Make sure your content is not only about the fancy stuff but spends its time presenting the solid foundation to your subject matter or niche. Are you writing about fishing? Then don’t forget to discuss the fishing rod.

If your readers start to spot these kinds of inconsistencies you will find that your hard earned respect and authority status will dwindle away rapidly. It was the same when you went to college and you asked your professor a basic question to which he didn’t have the answer.

Adding to these basics that you need to get right, don’t forget the keywords that represent these basic concepts. In the same way that you don’t want to forget about the fishing rod and discussing which ones would be the best for what kind of fishing, the same principle will apply to establishing your keywords.

In fact if you determine your keywords ahead of your content because you have decided on a niche and want to develop your content around this, then by the mere fact that you have not included the keyword fishing rod as an item would already ensure that you fail.

Use your keywords to support your quest to have great information available. That is content that is basic, indispensable, not to be left out and essentially needs to be present on your blog. You cannot do without.

It’s also important never to forget that basic information can make the most compelling and useful advice that somebody might be looking for. Not all content needs to be for specialists only. Prepare some easy to understand introductory content to ensure that your users understand the concepts.

It will certainly also open your market to higher numbers of interested people. If you are a specialist in search engine optimisation, don’t forget to provide information to the new internet marketer who has never heard of SEO never mind knows how to work it.

Many experts make this basic mistake in that they forget that at some stage everybody has to start at the beginning. Make sure you don’t forgot those visitors who might just need to get that leg up first of all before finding their way into more difficult terrain.

In any case it would be foolish to alienate a whole segment of your target market because you don’t want to cater to the beginners amongst them. These very same beginners could end up becoming your expert followers. It also means that you have been able to sell your products to them as they have become more expert. It expands your market considerably.
